DTV Visa Bank Statement Requirements: How to Prepare Your Financial Evidence
Having enough money and proving it in the required way are two different tasks. Before downloading a pile of statements, check exactly which account, which dates and which documents your consulate asks to see.
The short answer
The DTV financial threshold is commonly stated as at least 500,000 THB or the equivalent, but the amount is only part of the check. Your consulate may specify statement history, account type, issuing country and currency evidence. Do not assume that today’s balance screenshot, invoices or investment holdings satisfy its bank-statement requirement.
Financial-evidence preparation, with published examples from London, Singapore and Oslo. Local requirements must be checked for the consulate accepting your application.
Official sources checked 8 September 2026. Read the sources.
Is 500,000 THB the whole requirement?
No. The published financial threshold needs to be read together with the evidence instructions. A balance figure tells you the amount to demonstrate; a statement-history rule tells you the period the documents must cover.
London’s DTV checklist states at least £12,000, alongside the 500,000 THB figure. Use the local threshold published by your post rather than treating an approximate currency conversion in a blog as the amount it will accept.
Bank-statement rules differ by consulate
These examples show why a universal “three months is enough” answer is unreliable. They are extracts of financial requirements, not complete application checklists or suggestions to shop between consulates.
| Consulate | Published financial instruction | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| London | At least £12,000 (500,000 THB), for example bank statements | Read the general instructions too, including requirements for statements issued abroad |
| Singapore | Savings balance of at least 500,000 THB, approximately SGD 20,000, for the past three months | Only Singapore and Thailand savings accounts; investment and CPF accounts are excluded |
| Oslo | Statements showing an ending balance of at least 500,000 THB over the past three months | Confirm the currently applicable checklist with the embassy before relying on its older page |
Oslo’s page also retains older location-evidence wording. The financial wording above is what it publishes; the page should not be used on its own as the current residence checklist after the August changes.
What should you check on each statement?
Use this preparation checklist to catch unclear or incomplete evidence before submission. It is a document-quality check, not an additional list of nationwide legal requirements.
- Account holder: does the statement clearly identify you?
- Institution and account: can the reader identify the bank and the relevant account?
- Dates: do the statements cover the entire period requested, without missing months or pages?
- Currency and balance: are the amounts and currency clear?
- Document quality: is the file complete, readable and in the accepted format?
- Supporting explanation: are any additional bank letters or currency confirmations requested by the consulate included?
Can you use a screenshot from a banking app?
Do not assume so. London’s general upload instructions explicitly reject screenshots and password-protected files. An official downloadable statement is different from a screenshot of the balance screen.
If your bank only provides a format that conflicts with the upload instructions, ask the bank for an appropriate statement or letter. Do not edit the balance, account-holder details or dates to make a file appear compliant.
What if your freelance income varies each month?
Organise the answer around what each document proves. A client invoice describes a charge. A payment record helps connect that charge to a receipt. A bank statement shows the account activity and balance over its stated period. One document does not automatically replace another.
For example, a freelancer paid in project instalments may have uneven monthly receipts. A simple, truthful note can explain the payment pattern if clarification is needed. It cannot remove a minimum-balance or statement-history requirement.
Use income records where your post asks for them. Singapore lists recent income evidence separately from its savings requirement, illustrating that a consulate can ask to see both.
Multiple accounts, investments and recent deposits
If your savings sit across several accounts, ask whether balances can be combined and which ownership and currency documents are required. Do not assume a joint account or company account will be treated like a personal savings account.
Do not substitute a crypto-wallet value, investment-platform total or available credit for a requested savings statement without explicit confirmation. Singapore specifically excludes investment and CPF accounts; that local rule should not be turned into an unsupported worldwide claim.
A recent transfer also does not erase the account’s earlier balance history. Keep the genuine transaction records if an explanation is requested. Never borrow or move money simply to create a misleading picture of funds available to you.
Prepare the evidence in this order
Start with the consulate that can accept your application. The residence changes mean choosing a post on the strength of an easy bank-statement checklist is not a substitute for meeting its jurisdiction rules.
- Confirm your application jurisdiction and accepted residence status.
- Save the current financial instructions and note the date you checked them.
- Identify the required amount, account types, currencies and statement period.
- Request official statements and any required bank letters.
- Check every page and reconcile details with the rest of your application.
- Recheck the official instructions before submission, alongside the police-certificate requirement.
VisaOS helps organise financial evidence within your application pack. The embassy or consulate decides whether the documents satisfy its requirements.
